After meditating and reading this morning (part of my morning ritual) I felt compelled to write this post.
I was reassessing my life, which I do on a regular basis and I asked the question of how my life has completely turned around in such a short period of time and that I can do anything that I really want to do. A lot of this is due to looking at the world differently. I look at the world differently because my mind-set has changed. I have engulfed myself in a number of different things such as; daily reading of personal development books/audios, meditating, travel, eating low fat raw foods, surrounding myself with positive people etc etc etc.
Anyway, one thing I am completely interested in, is why do WE really need to work so many hours and do people have spare time to do what they want?!
For example; the average person works 40 hours a week. Therefore what spare time do we have left at the end of the week? So take away sleep; on average that’s 8 hours a day equals to 56 hours a week. That leaves us with 72 hours of spare time. This equals to around on average 10 hours a day spare time. If we worked 5 days a week at 8 hours a day, plus 8 hours of sleep then we have 8 hours left. Yep seems fair to have a nice 8 hours of spare time. But do we really have this full 8 hours spare? I know many people commute to work, this can take between 1-2 hours just to get there with traffic etc, then there’s getting back from work too. This then could take between 1-4 hours of just commuting! Then you have to add in getting ready for work, cleaning the house, walking the dog, taking the children to school, doing errands etc etc etc. So let’s say this all takes 5 hours you then have 3 hours left!!! No wonder people are stressed out. Especially when you have had to deal with the traffic going to work, rude people, stress of work, circumstances etc. No wonder why when you get home all you want to do is sit on the sofa and get a takeaway! Stuff the gym and eating healthy!! Lol.
You may say that you manage your time well; some people do, for example;
- You may pre make your meals the night before
- Set off earlier to work to miss the traffic, you may then spend less on petrol, do personal phone calls just before you start work
- Listen to positive audios during the commute to work/ walking the dog, exercising
- Read books whilst in shopping queues, dentist, doctors
- Run with the dog because it saves time
- Use your lunch break to do your errands, get personal stuff done
- Do your food shopping straight after work because you pass by the supermarket on the way home
- Don’t eat dinner to save on time, so you say to yourself I am on diet so eating less will be a good thing!
- Delegate the house chores to family members or outsource it
You get the idea! The point is how long can we keep on doing this? Until you retire?! What is going to change? You are in the rat race whether you like it or not. This may not apply to you if you don’t work full time and are financially free and time free. But majority of people are not time and financially free! If you live pay cheque to pay cheque, work an hour, get paid an hour you will not create time and financial freedom.
You can disillusion yourself with “O I don’t need much money” or “I love working and I love working hard” (this was my thinking not so long ago!), but can you honestly say this is true? Do you believe this?
Let’s put it another way. If you could earn more money not working your arse off and not even working as much, you would do it right? OR what if you had more time to do the things you enjoy, had more choices in life, spend more time with family and friends, travel more, treat your family to exotic restaurants, or just to have that peace of mind that you are financially secure. You would snap it up in a second wouldn’t you?
As a society we have been brainwashed in to thinking that a life of time and financial freedom is non-existent! That we need to accept less, not to dream, need to work hard and longer. Who really and I mean really wants to live like this? Or even do this until we retire and even then what do we do because we can’t even afford to retire at 70, were even living longer too!!!
Ask yourself; where do you see yourself in 5 years? Is anything going to change?
STOP yourself from them limiting beliefs….I can hear you saying now…..well there isn’t another way, there is no such thing! Well you know what…if you believe this then this is going to hold true for you! But it’s NOT true! Why don’t you challenge the norm?! STAND UP and be more. STOP settling. ASK yourself, what do you really really want? Then take action! It might just be to be more positive, gain confidence in meeting new people, learning how successful people are successful, seeing how you can spend more time with your children, able to donate money to your chosen charity, volunteer because you have the time, buy your own home. Whatever it is YOU can have it!
How do I know? Because I have experienced some huge changes in my life recently. I am living proof that anything is possible, with the right mind-set (and that is all it is!), you can have anything you want!
There are 2 types of people in this world;
1. The ones who believe (the successful ones)
2. The ones who don’t believe (the unsuccessful ones)
The differences between these people are the successful people think differently and that’s it!!!!
You maybe are successful, but I bet you don’t feel successful in every area of your life? If that’s the case CHANGE YOUR MINDSET!!
Do you want to have time and financial freedom?? Then look for people who have this and copy them!!
So the question is why do WE really need to work so many hours?! We don’t! so chose not to!
I will tell you how I have time and almost financial freedom later. Because I am going to be honest with you, this life does exist but you have to change your mind-set and for some this takes time. I am still undoing all the brainwashing self-limiting beliefs that I have created. I take full responsibility for the beliefs I carry. This is a journey…so enjoy the journey and work on yourself to being the best version of YOU.
